Before beginning this blog, I just want to share that I’m spiritual rather than religious. I believe that God is way too big to be confined to any one religion or doctrine. To be clear, the God of my understanding is a loving God.
In my upcoming book, in the chapter Angels, Spirituality and Religion, I talk about how important faith and God have been in my life. In fact, I wouldn’t have survived one chunk of adversity after another, if I didn’t have faith, and a God that I could pray to, and ask for help – a God that has given me strength and resilience every step in my life journey.
In this chapter, I also talk about the show “Touched by an Angel,” and how much it has helped and inspired me, especially through the last three years of my life, since I’ve been on dialysis. I point out:
“I know what it’s like to be immobilized by fear, or to feel alone, even in the presence of other people, including loved ones. I know what it feels like to think about the future, and see only darkness. On the other hand, I believe that God loves me, He’s with me, and He gives me courage, resilience, hope and strength. God didn’t take me this far to desert me.”
